Faces, Faces, Faces!

Faces. Is there anything we encounter in daily life more fascinating than faces? Old, young, confident, shy, haunted, mysterious, happy, sad, beautiful, ugly … faces provide an almost endless source of inspiration and interest. In August of 2011, you’ll have an opportunity to create your own fascinating faces as a student in sculptor Cheryl Dolby’s course, “Faces, Faces, Faces.”
Held at Cheryl’s hillside home, Woodloft, in Virginia’s beautiful Roanoke Valley the course will provide each student with the techniques and materials to create:

Airfare to and from Roanoke is not included in the fee. Cost of shipping artwork to the student’s home, if required, will also incur an additional charge.
Held at Cheryl’s hillside home, Woodloft, in Virginia’s beautiful Roanoke Valley the course will provide each student with the techniques and materials to create:
- a tall, standing figure sculpted from clay and kiln-fired
- choice of a kiln-fired clay “face planter” or "burning bowl"
- a personal journal of the week’s activities adorned with a sculpted
- a cloth doll with a face sculpted from non-firing clay
The course fee includes:
- room and bed for seven days;
- all food and beverages including breakfast, lunch, dinner , and snacks;
- all instructor’s fees;
- all art supplies, including clay, use of sculpting tools, and a large selection of embellishments to be used on finished creations;
- access to Cheryl’s extensive library of art books;
- trip along the Blue Ridge Parkway to Chateau Morrisette for gourmet lunch;
- trip to Taubman Museum of Art and Roanoke Farmers' Market including lunch;
- use of studio computer;
- access to Woodloft studio, gardens and swimming pool;
- transportation to and from the Roanoke airport; and,
- any other required ground transportation.
Airfare to and from Roanoke is not included in the fee. Cost of shipping artwork to the student’s home, if required, will also incur an additional charge.
